The fund, which opens in the summer, will see community groups able to bid for up to £250,000 of matched-funding to help them buy local pubs to run as community-owned businesses.
The chancellor said he hoped such a move would help keep such venues at "the heart and soul of our local towns and villages".
With this in mind we asked our readers which local pubs they would love to make sure survived after the pandemic.
Please note we are not saying that these pubs are in financial trouble, only that they are much loved by our readers and that we would be sad to see them close.
1. Good Companions
Located in Seven Dials on Dyke Road, this pub offered pupils either cold lunches or a hot cooked dinner to families who could not afford it during October half term. Photo: Google Maps
2. Fiveways
The pub in Ditchling Road, at the Fiveways lights, shows sport, has outside seating and serves classic British fare and cask ales. Photo: Google Maps
3. Hare and Hounds
Located in London Road, the pub offers fantastic Thai food courtesy of Thai Kitchen between Monday and Saturday, as well as roast dinners. The Meantime tank means you can buy brewery fresh, unfiltered beer straight from the tank to your glass. The pub used to be rammed after work and we hope it returns to that one day.
