Teacher's big bushy beard gets the chop for charity
And just before the end of term, Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) teacher Chris Mellett had to say goodbye to his beard after ten years – as they raised £3,200.
On Friday, students Leanne Coltherd, Kaitlin Emery and Daniella Birchley – who led the fundraising for East Sussex charity Children with Cancer Fund – each got to clip a chunk of their teacher's beard off in assembly.

Hide AdPACA teacher Mike Jones in a blond wig and apron, stepped in to shave off the rest – to great cheers from the students and fellow staff members.
Mr Mellett said: “We’re are very proud of the considerable amount of fundraising and volunteering for local causes that PACA students do, and to raise over £3,000 for Children with Cancer Fund is great.”
And asked how it felt to be clean shaven after so long, he said: "Very odd…..and very cold!”.
