The town’s infection rate, up to Sunday, January 24, stands at 425.2 per 100,000 people. England’s infection rate was 437.8 over the past week.

Hide AdThe latest figures show Hastings recorded 45 new cases in the 24 hours to 4pm on Sunday.
The rate of infection has dropped significantly from the end of December and beginning of January. On January 4, the town’s infection was 834.2 per 100,000 people. During that week, Hastings recorded 773 new cases. In the week to Christmas Eve, Hastings recorded a high of 961.6 cases per 100,000 people.
As a result, Hastings was placed into tighter restrictions than other parts of Sussex. The rest of the county was added to Tier 4 on Boxing Day before the whole country entered a third national lockdown in January.
Deaths
The latest government figures show there were no Covid-19-related deaths in the 24 hours to 4pm on Sunday.

Hide AdAccording to Public Health England, 192 people in Hastings have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.
Vaccines
People in Hastings are receiving their vaccines at the Hastings Centre on The Ridge.
By last week, the centre had administered jabs to 2,750 people at an average of 1,200 vaccines per week. It is hoped the centre can increase this to 3,000 injections per week with an increased supply of vaccines.
Another 550 care home residents, and 200 staff members had also been vaccinated by Wednesday last week.
The Conquest Hospital is also operating as a vaccine hub but the statistics have not yet been made available.
