Vulnerable Crawley tenants offered jab outside their homes

Tenants living at Sutherland Quarters, Maplehurst House and Ashburn House have been given the opportunity to receive their jab thanks to Caridon Property and Alliance for Better Care (ABC) mobile vaccination services.
Caridon Property, who had been researching ways to help some of their more vulnerable tenants receive their Covid vaccinations, approached Alliance for Better Care (ABC) after seeing their success at delivering mobile vaccination services within the local community. By working together with numerous partners, including representatives from parish, town, borough and district councils within the region (East Surrey, Crawley Horsham and Mid-Sussex), as well as enthusiastic involvement from the local volunteer sector, ABC, a not-for-profit GP federation, has been able to give more than 100,000 life-saving jabs to local residents.

Hide AdLora Bencheikh, director at Caridon Property, who first reached out to ABC said: “We have some tenants who don’t have the means or desire to travel to a vaccination centre.
“They may suffer with anxiety or other mental health issues, meaning they have so far avoided taking up the opportunity to be vaccinated. We felt that if tenants only had to step outside their home, and our staff, who are all familiar faces to them, were on site, then they may feel more comfortable.
“We also know many of the tenants have been shielding throughout the pandemic, so having easy access to the vaccine is vital to helping them resume some level of normality.”
ABC responded to Caridon straight away and helped arrange for their Mobile Vaccination Service to visit three of the Crawley sites. The Caridon team also gave up their Saturday to help facilitate the day alongside the incredible team of nurses and volunteers. In total, 130 tenants took up the vaccinations service.

Hide AdLora added: “We would like to thank Matt Cullis, director at ABC, and his whole team at Alliance for Better Care. They really are doing a wonderful job helping to deliver a safe and effective programme that affords local residents access to the vaccine as quickly as possible.”
