The pub is called ‘Daddy Longlegs’ – a nod to nearby seafront history – and is nestled at the eastern end of Kemp Town on Arundel Road. It was formerly known as the The New Bush.

Hide AdThe Daddy Longlegs, invented by Magnus Volk, was part of the Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway, which, from 1896 to 1901, carried tourist passengers from Kemp Town through the shallow waters to Rottingdean. It was dubbed the Daddy Long Legs due to its raised platform and 7m stilts.
After a comprehensive refurbishment over many months, the pub is due to open in the coming weeks.
General manager Jake Goldstein said: “We will be creating the atmosphere of an informal pub in a calm but vibrant area, The Daddy Longlegs is an escape from city life.”

Kate Dowd of Fleurets, the estate agents which sold the pub, said: “They are a great team and I am really excited to see them bring a bit of city centre vibe to this area.
“With the plans for the ‘People’s Promenade’ on the seafront, the future is looking good for the eastern end of the city.”
