Artist recognised in national awards
Chris Gilbert was presented with the Abi Slade prize for best print for his woodcut ‘Oaxaca Serenade’ at the Royal College of Art.
The NOA is administered by the Chichester Arts trust. Its aim is to provide an open and fair platform for artists in the UK and the republic of Ireland.

Hide AdIt is now the largest open art competition in the country that is completely open to all.
This year there were more than 4,000 entries, from which 133 finalists were selected.
The £60,000 prize money was shared between more than 30 prize-winners.
In his recent work, Chris Gilbert has concentrated on woodcuts and etchings.
His prize woodcut is based on his travels in Mexico and depicts skeletons as musicians on a street bench. The print is in vibrant colours.
