The publication, A Taste of the Home Front, is the culmination of a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and carried out by volunteers from Arundel Museum.
The volunteers have been researching the availability of food around Arundel during the war and how that impacted the townspeople, farmers and shopkeepers.

The launch was timed for Armistice Day, to following the town’s commemoration service and two-minute silence at Arundel War Memorial.
The museum received £7,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the project and museum volunteers spent time consulting local records, the archives of Arundel Castle, local newspaper archives and personal testimonies to gather the information for the recipes and background information.
The stories they found showed how the town came together to win the war on the Home Front, from gardeners and allotment holders to the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk, fishermen, farmers, shopkeepers and housewives.

The launch included highlights of an earlier exhibition, including contemporary posters and displays, plus a chance to try some wartime cake.
The recipe book is available at Arundel Museum.
