Barnham to Walberton cycle path taking shape
Work began last month on a new pedestrian and cyclist path which will join the villages to the South Downs National Park.
The £335,000 scheme was joint funded by the Government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund and West Sussex County Council and is expected to be finished in September.

Hide AdBarnham resident Debbie Hobbs said: “I think it’s brilliant they are building the pathway.
“Our family often run and cycle along that road and we’ll be using it a lot more frequently when it’s finished.
“People do drive fast down the road and there’s a lot of blind bends which can make it dangerous.”
The mile-long path will run independently to Barnham Lane and once people get to Walberton, the cyc;le route will be singposted to Fontwell, through to the A27 Fontwell underpass and beyond to the South Downs National Park.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Barnham Lane from late June, and the whole scheme is expected to be completed by September, subject to the weather.
