Hide AdAngus Gill, of The Grove, Battle, who sent the Observer this picture of Dexter, said: “Around now families may be considering getting a puppy for Christmas. They are soft, playful and great fun. But these puppies can grow to be large powerful dogs and can outgrow their owners and children’s ability to manage them.
“There is also the cost of feeding, bedding, insurance and vet bills. Regrettably in early 2016 some will find themselves at the Dogs Trust homes at Shoreham and Canterbury.
“So if you are considering a puppy or dog from Christmas, go along to the Dogs Trust homes at Shoreham and Canterbury before you decide and have a word with the staff there. They’ll be able to advise you of the best type of dog for your family’s circumstances. And you never know, you may come away with your own ‘model’ dog.”
