On Saturday the 17th, there will be A Right Royal Quiz, another fund raising event for the Queen`s Jubilee, at 7.30 pm in the hall. Bring your own food, tickets, £5 include the first drink and are available from the Village Stores.
The following week, on Thursday 22nd, Chalkfoot Theatre Company make a welcome return to the village. Their play, Running For Glory takes the story of two athletes, Harald Abrahams and Eric Liddell, who competed in the 1924 Paris Olympics and makes the competition between the two men into a fine piece of topical theatre.

Photographers are invited to enter this year`s Photographic Competition organised by the Friends of St Laurence Church, Catsfield.
Last year`s Competition revealed the talents of many people living locally. This year the competition and exhibition will be on Saturday, April 28th at the hall. Entries to be submitted in the morning 8am to 10 am and the exhibition, with tea and cakes, from 2pm to 4 pm.

I should like to finish my Village Voice on a happy note with a village fairy tale, brought to me courtesy of one of our great village story tellers - guess who!
Once upon a time there was a beautiful pantomime queen called Vanessa who came across a box of reject gnomes. Her heart melted, she begged her boss to sell them to her and she brought them to the Jubilee Committee where they were met with incredulity and laughter. What to do with them? How could they become part of the tasteful Jubilee
celebrations we were planning? Some were sold at the cabaret evening

Hide Adand two were won by Rebecca Campbell at the village shop, where they have been turned into a gnome naming competition. They are rapidly turning into a cult item and to ensure you save them from the encircling pantomime baddies, go along to the shop and enter. Others may be appearing during the Jubilee festivities, watch out for them, grab them while you can, you could be the only person in the village without one.
