COUNTY NEWS: Batman rescues one-year-old baby trapped in car
Caroline Penny, from Framfield, parked her Volkswagen car in Tesco car park while out shopping with her granddaughter Iris earlier today (July 14).
Upon returning to the car, Caroline placed Iris into her baby seat and went around to the driver’s side. However, to her shock, all the car doors had become firmly locked.

Hide AdAfter desperate attempts to get into the car failed, Sussex Police were called. They tried to unlock the doors using wire but after that proved unsuccessful, the back side window had to be broken in.
When the doors still would not open, it was decided to recruit local five-year-old Zavi Ahmed, who was passing by dressed in a Batman costume. The youngster climbed into the car through the broken side window and opened the door from the inside.
It is not yet known how the doors suddenly became locked, but a garage is set to investigate.
While Iris was locked in the car for just over an hour, she was not harmed - and even came out smiling at Batman, and his younger brother, who was dressed as Superman.
Ms Penny thanked all the people and police for their help.
