Crime level reduced
Mid Sussex District Council works as part of the CDRP alongside Sussex Police, the probation service, health authorities the voluntary sector and businesses to help deliver stronger, safer communities for the residents of Mid Sussex. The recent reduction in recorded crime of 9.9 per cent represents a significant improvement to the lives of local people and means that there have been 548 fewer victims of crime this year compared with the previous 12 months.
The CDRP is responsible for a number of community based crime prevention initiatives, often centred on education and the prevention of crime. A recent holiday activity programme called ‘Motiv8’ attracted more than 400 young people from all over the District during the February half-term break. The programme has a positive impact in keeping crime and anti-social behaviour low because it provides young people with constructive activities to try during the holidays.
The ‘Motiv8’ programme will be running once again over the Easter Holiday period. More information on the CDRP and MSP is available on the website at www.midsussex.gov.uk/msp.
