January 27:
Ashley Mullen-Franklin, 26, of Vancouver Road, Eastbourne, was found guilty of assault by beating. The offence took place at Crawley on February 7 last year. He was also found guilty of damaging items belonging to the victim at Crawley on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £1,037 in compensation. The verdict was proved in his absence.
February 8:
A 16-year-old Hastings youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to arson at Eastbourne on August 21 last year. He also pleaded guilty to damaging a window belonging to Eastbourne Borough Council and to assault by beating, at Eastbourne on the same date. He pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating at Eastbourne on November 20. He was referred to the East Sussex Youth Offender Panel for a one year contract. He was also ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

Hide AdA 17-year-old Eastbourne youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer. The offence took place at Queens Gardens on December 16. He also pleaded guilty to being concerned in supplying eight wraps of a Class A drug to another, at Eastbourne on the same date. He was referred to East Sussex Youth Offender Panel for an eight month contract and ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
February 9:
Michael Shepherd, 25, of Mallard Close, Eastbourne, indicated a plea of guilty to damaging property belonging to Eastbourne Borough Council. The offence took place at Myrtle Road, Eastbourne, on August 15. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis resin at Eastbourne on the same date. He was given a one-year conditional discharge by magistrates and ordered to pay £500 in compensation.
