Disability Awareness UK has been working across the community for the last 12 years and focuses on motivation and confidence.
As part of its work organises for people with disabilities of all ages to speak to children in primary schools and give short, upbeat presentations about themselves and the practicalities of their every day life.

The aim is children can begin to appreciate that someone with a disability is still an individual.
Taking part also raises speakers’ confidence and gives them new skills they can use in the wider community.
As a result of its work across Sussex and Hampshire, former trainees have moved on to set up their own organisations which work along the same lines.
