Doubt over Teville Gate Vision
It had been intended that developers of Teville Gate would build the pool there and lease it back to the council as part of a visionary scheme for the gateway to the town.
But finance officers have said that it would be cheaper for the council to build a 19 million pool at West Park, the site of the town's main leisure centre.

Hide AdRobert Walker, a spokesman for Hanson developers said a new deal would be tabled immediately in a bid to keep the Teville Gate scheme alive in its entirety.
He said: "The officers have not had our final submission yet, which will be with them on Monday." He believes the final submission would persuade the council back to the Tevill Gate site.
The swimming pool is part of a 100 million high rise flats and cinema development, and envisages a 25-metre eight-lane pool, a combined learner/diving pool, and fun facilities for families at Tevill Gate.
