Duo set off in a '˜world first' - a round-the-world trip on a tandem
George Agate, from Pulborough, and pal John Whybrow, are aiming for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records by becoming the first ever team to circumnavigate the globe by tandem bicycle.
The pair, who met while studying at the University of Kent in Canterbury, have spent a year planning the mammoth trip through 28 countries.

Hide AdThey set off this morning from the historic entrance gates to Canterbury Cathedral - and their finishing line will be in around eight months’ time.
Earlier George spoke of the task ahead. “The ride is going to be riddled with challenges, both physically and mentally, but overcoming these will be a great achievement,” he said.
The duo will attempt to set the Guinness World Record and also hope to raise £100,000 for their three chosen charities; Porchlight, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Water Aid.
Their route around the world has been meticulously planned,taking them across mainland Europe into Turkey, through parts of northern Iran, into India,Bangkok,Singapore, Australia, New Zealand,USA, Mexico,through Central America to Columbia, Moroccoa nd then into Gibraltar andS pain, and a final sprint up the length of France back to the UK.
