East Preston film group honours popular village couple
Two flower planters named after the popular couple have been provided at the junction of North Lane and Roundstone Drive, either side of the bench installed to commemorate the Queen’s diamond jubilee last year.
The planters and their flowers were donated by East Preston Film Society, from the proceeds of two of its recent screenings, and on Sunday society founder Paul Amoo invited Doug and Mary to unveil the plaques bearing their names on the structures.

Hide AdDoug is the president of East Preston Festival and a former school governor and parish councillor, while Mary served on the festival committee and with several other village organisations.
“It was a complete surprise, and a wonderful gesture,” said Mary after Sunday’s ceremony.
Doug was presented with a bottle of sherry and Mary with flowers, from Cooper Adams Estate Agents, who sponsor the society’s films.
