Eastbourne RNLI crews rush to Remembrance Day incident
The volunteers rushed to help a kite surfer reported to be having difficulties in strong winds in Eastbourne Bay at 11.55am on Sunday (November 11).
But it was discovered the surfer had managed to scramble ashore, leaving his equipment to drift in the swell – the RNLI said.

Hide AdWhat an onlooker had thought to be a human casualty was in fact a curious nearby seal which had decided to investigate the kite.
To avoid concern from the public and the likelihood of further call-outs during the day it was decided to request the assistance of the inshore lifeboat (ILB) to recover the equipment.
In the challenging surf the ILB launched with three crewmen on board and quickly recovered the kite and harness.
The RNLI is an independent charity, funded by voluntary donations.
