Future of Robertsbridge pub no clearer

The Seven Stars has been shut for many months and more recently the rear car park was chained off.
It is owned by Harvey’s of Lewes and concerns were raised about its plans for the historic pub.

Hide AdEstate manager Andrew Christie said they are doing what is best for the pub.
“We had it on the market for a year but we hadn’t been able to find a new tenant so we have temporarily shut it.
“Now we are finding out what to do with it.
“We’ve tried very hard to find a new tenant as we are a small, damily brewery trying to do the best for the pub.
“The market is very difficult for the trade at the moment but we are doing our best for the pub.”

Hide AdThe Seven Stars dates back to 1177 and is said to be one of the most haunted pubs in England with a particularly gruesome history.
Peter Merry, of Fair Lane, said the pub is a focal point in the village yet it has been shut for many weeks and worried about Harvey’s’ lack of announcements about its future.
“It is very sad that a pub which is centuries old is being allowed to die in this way,” he said.
