‘High value’ objects headed for museum
Horsham District Council development control committee north approved plans for a door at the Grade II* listed building to be replaced with a new oak frame with bolts will meet Government safety standards for such exhibits.
Following members’ approval, curator Jeremy Knight said: “The purpose of the works are to improve the level of security at the museum to attract objects which will receive Government Indemnity which means the Government will pay insurance.

Hide Ad“You can only borrow these items from national museums if you have Government Indemnity. It gives us the opportunity to borrow these important items and it will benefit the town and all concerned.
“It’s part of our improvements. We are getting new display cases in too.
“The museum and the council will be able to say we have these things here. People say they can go up to London, but they don’t. They like to pop in.”
