The High Street was transformed into a festive wonderland with street entertainers, fairground rides, dance displays, stalls and live music from carol singers and Newhaven Youth Marching Band.
The start of the evening of fun for all ages was heralded by the arrival of Father Christmas and Harry Potter in an American limousine-style car. The pair then met more than 200 youngsters at a specially created Hogwart's Grotto, opposite the Post Office.
