The sessions are being taken by qualified staff and were offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
Parents and pupils gathered by the park courts on Tuesday to take advantage of an offer which the sports development officer hopes will be the launch pad for further basic coaching sessions.
The aim of the sessions is to fire young people's enthusiasm for tennis and to encourage them to take up the sport. Coaching was undertaken by Mastersports staff.
