Library visit marks an opening chapter in new mayor's year
The event naturally featured a well-stocked book stall, but visitors were also able to buy plants, cakes, greetings cards, bric-a-brac and raffle tickets, and was part of ongoing fund-raising efforts for the library, which is a registered charity and is run by volunteers.
It was created in 2002 after an existing public library in Little Common was due to be closed by East Sussex County Council, and now opens on Tuesdays, 9.30am - 4pm, and Fridays, 9.30am - 12.30pm.
It currently has 3,141 books available.
A spokesman said: “We’d like to say a big thank-you to everyone who supported the open day, and special thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make it a great success.”
