LETTER: NHS woes

Most people are aware that if the doctors are unhappy with their settlement they can just vote with their feet and take their skills abroad. Australia, Canada, and the USA would welcome them with open arms.
If economies are needed in what the Health Service spends on staff costs the first place to look is the enormous salaries paid to the many senior Hospital Managers., especially those on £200,000 a year or more.

Hide AdIt is absolutely inexcusable that these pen pushers should claim a fat bonus if the NHS is strapped for cash. Also, if they expect the nurses to make do with a one per cent pay rise, they must also be content with the same figure.
“What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.”
When my father went to a hospital on a Saturday he was amazed to find so many parking spaces empty.
“These spaces are for the managers” the porter advised him. “They don’t work at weekends.”
Would it be too much to expect a few managers to put in an appearance at weekends, if they are so keen on giving a better service?
