A vital insight into the world of work
This event is overseen by the School Council.
All children, from Reception through to Year 6, participate in the experience. Parents, friends of the school and local businesses are invited to come into school to talk to the children about their world of work.
This year proved to be another successful event and was well attended by a number of adults talking about a variety of different job opportunities.

The children had interesting questions to ask and were keen to engage with numerous ‘hands-on’ experiences.
These included styling hair, designing cars, studying dental hygiene, modelling police uniforms, exploring a Range Rover vehicle, observing tree surgery, practising the use of a stethoscope, caring for creatures such as tortoises, unpacking a rucksack of resources used at Pulborough Brooks, looking at ‘behind the scenes’ information from retail stores and trialling methods a vet might use to help sick animals.
The morning provided children with a unique insight into the world of work, a chance to think about the relevance of their learning experiences in school and maybe some aspirations for the future!
St Mary’s School would like to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers from the school community who made the morning such a success!
