Beware false Santas
I would like to know, when councillors vote for such a development, just how much they are swayed by the promised infrastructure contributions from the developers.
I can understand the offers may be tempting, particularly in these hard times. With government cuts, these large, greedy developers may don the Father Christmas outfit more convincingly than ever, but do we really want our future locally to be in their hands?

Hide AdIt seems to be that if we don’t have the money for a Lyminster bypass and other facilities, we can’t have them and must do without for now.
Rather that than reluctantly give away local influence and power to developers – that’s a perverse way to make such important decisions and, by its nature, would have a detrimental effect down the line upon the development and infrastructure package. It would not live up to its rosy image, as painted by developers; it cannot.
So, add on the possible benefits of this development going ahead, and I would give it a generous 25 per cent success rate, with recurring detrimental effects.
