Book Day fun at Cranleigh Prep
Forms 1-3 were dressed in a wonderful array of costumes, from Gangster Granny to Pippi Longstocking and Gandolf to Indiana Jones.
There were a variety of book-related activities designed to inspire a love of reading. Mrs Fenton’s Annual Book Quiz tested the knowledge of the most committed bibliophiles, whilst the Staff Video (showing members of our community sharing excerpts from books which most inspire them) brought a smile to our faces and reminded us that reading is a life-long passion.

Hide AdWe were fortunate to have two very different authors to share their ideas and work. Paul Geraghty, an author and illustrator of picture books, amazed us with his ability to captivate the children with his eccentric story-telling, manoeuvre a slide presentation and produce an incredible piece of artwork - all at the same time!
Andy Mulligan, an author for older prep school children, talked to us about how to write best-selling books, as well as the journey from the page to the screen, as the film version of his well-known novel “Trash” premiered in the UK in January.
With much excitement, the 1st Annual Spelling Bee was held at Cranleigh Prep School in the afternoon.
This house event consisted of 2 rounds. The class heats were held first, where every pupil in the school from Forms 1-5 was given the opportunity to earn points for their house. The second round was a team Spelling Bee event, with each house fielding one representative from each year group, from Forms 1-5, plus a Common Room member. Everyone did an exemplary job spelling stupendously complex words with exceptional ease.
