No party whip
I personally have a great deal of respect for him.
He has stated he will not be standing as a Conservative, but as an Independent as he doesn’t want to have to “toe the party line”.
Anyone who has ever attended a Rother meeting will have seen what this means with the Conservative group voting together, whatever their privately stated opinions.

Hide AdIt is a good opportunity to remind your readers that the standing orders in the Lib Dem group does not require this unquestioning obedience, but allows each Lib Dem to vote according to their conscience and more particularly to represent the views and needs of residents.
The straitjacket of a “party whip” does not serve local government or our residents particularly well.
