Ready to help food crisis OAPs
It was particularly distressing to hear additional evidence that many older people are in financial crisis as a result of the changes to the pension application process.
At Age UK West Sussex, we not only provide a Freephone information and advice service (0800 019 1310), which is manned daily from 10am-2pm and can help with pensions, benefit checks; other avenues to maximise income and more, but we also run the Tamarisk Centre in Littlehampton’s Beach Road. The centre is open from 9.30am-4.30pm (4pm on a Friday) and is a social hub which offers older people home-cooked hot meals and snacks to eat in or take away at highly subsidised rates, in addition to an evolving programme of activities.
