Reserving judgement on practicality of new shelter
I stood before the new "shelter" along the promenade and wondered if the great iron beast with its switch-back structure within would actually provide any real shelter.
An old, bearded gentlemen, in a small group of builder watchers, stared at it pensively for a long moment and said: "They seem to have lost all touch with reality."

Hide AdThe "they", I guessed, being the designers of the new shelter.
Me, I'm pretty open minded and I'll give it a whirl, see if it keeps out the southerly wind-driven rain, or the cold northerly, and allows me a leeside within to get my wind-proof Zippo to fire a roll-up on a Sunday morning winter's walkabout.
All I can safely say at the moment is that it simply does not appear to be functional, but then neither did the East Beach Caf at first, and that now truly is!
