Storm Bella ends 2020 in Eastbourne
From: Philipa CoughlanSanta Cruz Drive, Sovereign Harbour
So here we are on the edge of Britain’s coast – a country facing separation from across the Channel.
Storm Bella came to give a final blast of destruction.
My thoughts in a poem:
Boxing Day
Beachy Head walkers
brave the beach at Birling Gap
as surf rises, waves crash
the walks of indulgence
the future of rush
to a normal world
not destroyed by death
a calming of the waters
a hope we can all touch
overnight winds gather apace
casting destruction over land and sea
New Year nature
a planet now too scarred
sweep away all contagion and hate
let storms settle
not long to wait.
