Success for students in public speaking contest
Pupils from the local schools gave an excellent account of themselves, with their topics ranging from surrealism and impressionism in modern music to the moods from which we all suffer. The winners of the junior competition were Millie Jewry, Alberta Dale and Alana Rowland from Farlington School; and the senior school competition was won by Jessica Clarke, Rebecca Briggs and Isabella Zanin, also from Farlington.
The event was judged by experienced public speakers, Tony Turner and Mark Jephcott, and they gave the young people some excellent advice and feedback. All of the pupils showed great assurance and delivered their addresses with conviction and an impressive range of rhetorical skills.
