The joy of books
She is quite right in saying libraries are still the gateway to a hobby that will last them (children) a lifetime.
I couldn’t read until I was six. My mother used to take children’s illustrated encyclopedias from the library for me to read, and one day I discovered a book with a fascinating dust cover – it was J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, and I have never looked back.

I’m 78-years-old now and, along with my grandchildren, still frequently use our excellent local library.
