This embodies Scrooge approach

That is the aim of its consultation.
Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol eloquently exposed the social injustice of thinking only of the books and counting profit and loss without considering the effect on individuals of such a blinkered approach.
Readers will recall that Scrooge was a miser who showed total lack of concern for the rest of mankind.

Hide AdThe Scrooge in this case is the chancellor Mr Osborne who has set this in motion but East Sussex County Council has moved immediately to look at cuts, without any proper analysis of what is commonly referred to as ‘unintended consequence’, but which many of us will simply consider is common sense.
No doubt many Conservative-led councils will do the same, something that appears to have surprised Mr Cameron in his own constituency.
The cuts in adult social care will place further burden on the NHS already stretched and the police, yet East Sussex County Council has not presented any risk analysis of the consequences of its proposals.
Nor has it even presented an analysis of the effect of the proposed cuts on the health of its constituents and the likely deaths that will result.
Truly this embodies the Scrooge approach.

Hide AdHave the Conservatives learnt nothing from the last five years?
Simply cutting public services without more harms people and is economic nonsense.
I urge readers to sign the petition on the East Sussex County Council website.
