Unhappy with council’s spending
£1,200 for a staff leaving do while worthy town events are refused a contribution or only given a pittance?
How come such a lavish leaving do in the first place? It is reported that the clerk took up the post 13 years ago, so hardly a life-time achievement. He has presumably also been adequately paid for his services by us, the tax payer.

Hide AdThe leaving do, now called a ‘community event’ will apparently be open to only 80-100 people, which is a tiny fraction of the Battle population.
It is time that Battle people had a real say in how the town council spends its money.
Many Battle people are having a pretty hard time of it with all the austerity and are very unhappy about all this extravagance.
