Walk with Me - Age UK Horsham District’s Sponsored Walk to raise money to support thousands of local older people.
Lawrie, the charity’s Community Fundraiser said: ‘Last year some of our supporters met up and held our first sponsored walk. It was a lovely, relaxing day and people of all ages got together to walk as far or as little as they wanted whilst enjoying the beauty of Horsham Park. We’d like to build on those numbers this year and get more people involved in this fun and healthy way of supporting your local charity.’
All money raised will go towards funding services the charity offers for free to local residents. For example their Information & Advice service helps hundreds of older people claiming benefits or providing advice on care, housing options or social and personal needs.

Hide AdAs well as consistently unlocking nearly £1million of benefits every year for older people of the district, the service also boasts a fantastic track record with 100% of people surveyed confirming that they would recommend the service to a friend, that it made a difference to their life and that they would contact the charity’s service first in the future.
This service is delivered without charge and will even visit older people in their homes if they are unable to get to their office. Such a fantastic and crucial service does however come at a cost to the charity of £55,000 last year. With no regular funding secure, fundraising events and donations are critical in order to keep this service going that helped over 1200 older people last year alone.
If you can take part in Walk with Me on Tuesday your sponsorship will be of great help. If you have any questions or would like to arrange your own event or make a donation to support the needs of the older people in Horsham District, contact their Community Fundraiser Lawrie on 01403 260560.
