Brighton Pride announces 2019 event raised £217k for community causes
The LGBTQ+ celebration drew thousands of people to the city from August 2 to 4 as it held its Community Parade, Pride in the Park event headlined by Kylie Minogue, Pride Village Party and LoveBN1Fest.
Organisers have now revealed that the weekend, which they hailed at the time as a ‘glorious showcase for the city’ and ‘another fantastic year of celebration, campaigning and reflection’, raised £217,432.50.

Hide AdPride’s charity partner Brighton Rainbow Fund will award the main grants from the charity pot and they are set to be presented tomorrow (October 1) at the Old Ship Hotel, on King’s Road.
Pride director Paul Kemp says Pride are ‘thrilled’ with the sum.
In a statement, he said: “With increasing costs this year for cleaning and security resources and the uncertainty around Brexit that adversely affected sponsorship income, it has been a really challenging year for Pride.
“This year Pride are thrilled to have raised £217,432.50 which will be distributed to local charity and community groups and projects through the Brighton Rainbow Fund, the Pride Social Impact Fund and Pride Cultural Development Fund.”

Hide AdLast year Brighton and Hove Pride raised £250,000 for community causes, which it said was a record-breaking amount. It has raised some £922,000 under its current organisers in the past five years and is on target to reach £1m by next year – the event’s 30th anniversary.
