Culture Recovery Fund: These are the organisations to benefit in Adur and Worthing
Funding of £2,931,049 has today been awarded through the Arts Council to support 20 organisations in West Sussex,
The Culture Recovery Fund is designed to help theatres, galleries, performance groups, arts organisations and local venues to reopen and recover after the pandemic.

Hide AdRopetackle Arts Centre, a grassroots multi-arts venue in Shoreham which attracts more than 40,000 people a year has been awarded £28,000.
The funding will support the venue to reopen with a programme of social distanced performances and reduced capacity to ensure safety.
Meanwhile The JMK Trust, a charity based in Worthing that runs a national talent development programme for theatre directors and makers, working in partnership with a national network of twelve regional theatres, has been awarded £25,000.
The funding will support the delivery of the JMKSpace online programme, as well as recruitment for up to three Assistant Director bursary positions and production development.

Hide AdStephen Fewell, chairman of the JMK Trust, said: “Emerging freelance theatre directors have been hit harder than most by theatre closure during lockdown, and this funding will enable us to kick start the career of one outstanding early career theatre artist this year.
“The future of the industry will significantly rely on the energy and capability of these directors, and the funding will ensure that this can happen safely, and with appropriate training.
“It is a shot in the arm towards the future of the industry, as well as the JMK Trust.”

Hide AdThe announcement brings the Government’s total investment across grants, capital and repayable finance from the Culture Recovery Fund so far to more than £1.2 billion across over 5,000 individual cultural organisations and sites.
A spokesman said: “The second round of awards made today will help organisations across the country as they welcome back visitors and return to normal operating models in the months ahead.”
