Eleven year old Wayne is on a mission to help the homeless in Hastings and Rother

Mum Maria explained: “Wayne has been gathering donated items, such as clothes, blankets and shoes to give to the charity Warming Up The Homeless.
“He gave them to Trudy Hampton who runs the facility in Bexhill. He wanted to do it as he was upset to learn that there are 82 children who are homeless in Hastings alone.

Hide Ad“He is also hoping to help out in the soup kitchen. We are very proud of him.
Wayne, from Springhill, Northiam, said: “I like to help the homeless. It makes me feel good.”
Trudy Hampton, from the charity, said: “We are thrilled by what he is doing. It is a magnificent effort from a magnificent boy.
“To show such compassion and understanding at that age is wonderful. We are so proud of Wayne.”

Hide AdBexhill Mayor Cllr Lynn Langlands praised the charity after joining volunteers in Hastings recently and said: “The dedication and passion from the volunteers for supporting a group of very vulnerable adults and children is second to none.”
