To ensure as many families benefit as possible, the government has launched an awareness week to encourage vulnerable families to check what support is available.

Mrs Ansell said: “I am supporting this awareness campaign as it is important this fund gets to the households that need it in our town.
“Councils are administering it because they can use local knowledge and directly reach people in our communities.
“Support is available to help with covering the costs of essentials like groceries, toiletries, warm clothes, and energy bills.”
