Great Alfriston Pancake Race 2020: ‘Everyone had a lot of fun,’ says organiser
Business owners Martin Pite, of Shot Coffee House, and Penny Macleod, of Totties Toy House, organised the event – thought to be the first of its kind in the village.
It was put on to embrace the road closure of the High Street and North Street as South East Water replaces an unreliable water main, to promote the village and to bring the community together.

He added that the ‘whole thing was extremely positive’ and achieved everything that they had set out to do.
Five or six pancake races took place, starting at Martin Cross and heading to St Andrew’s Church. Pancakes were also served throughout the event at the Alfriston War Memorial Hall.
Three prizes were awarded – for most enthusiastic, best dressed and pancake champion.
