Rudgwick dairy farmers and cheesemakers Rob Bookham and Tim Harrison - producers of Sussex Charmer Cheese - normally ply their wares from ‘Charmer on Toast trailers’ at such prestigious events as royal weddings, the Chelse Flower Show, Royal Ascot, Burghley Horse Trials - and more.
But this year all such events were cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, Rob and Tim have devised an alternative way of providing their customers with their fix of favourite food.

Rob said: “We wanted to find a way of getting our loyal customers from the show circuit their summer fix of cheese on toast.
“Since our coffee shop The Milk Churn is also closed, our customers have been unable to enjoy our Charmer on Toast.
“As soon as lockdown started, we developed a pre-cooked cheese on toast that we could post out to our customers. All they have to do is warm it up in the oven.”

Hide AdSussex Charmer Cheese on Toast trailers have attended The Chelsea Flower Show for many years and in 2016 their Sussex Charmer cheese was showcased to the Queen at the show’s gala event attended by celebrities in the presence of the Royal Family.
Although the trailers are self-isolating on the farm this year, people can still enjoy their Charmer Cheese on Toast from the comfort of their own homes in its new ready-meal format.
