This is why Lewes High Street has been closed off
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is warning residents to avoid the area following the incident.
A spokesman confirmed masonry had fallen off the White Hart Hotel in the high street.

Hide AdShe said: “We were called at 11.30am to reports that something had fallen from the roof of a building in the White Hart Hotel area.
“We blocked off the high street for public safety reasons. One fire engine is at the scene and an aerial ladder platform.
“We have building control on scene. The high street is currently closed.”
A spokesman for the White Hart Hotel confirmed the hotel was still open for business.

Hide AdShe added: “A piece of our building has come away. It is being inspected at the moment. We have no more information to reveal at this stage.”
Sussex Police said: “Police closed Lewes High Street to vehicles and pedestrians at both ends shortly before midday on Wednesday (October 2), after part of the roof of the White Hart Hotel collapsed.
“There were no reports of injuries and fire and building experts are at the scene.
“The road will remain closed until further notice and drivers are being advised to avoid the centre of Lewes for the time being if possible.”
East Sussex Highways has provided an update on the road closure.
