Volunteers from Sandgate Conservation Society cleared weeds and brambles from heather beds at Sullington Warren this week during only their second work party since lockdown.
Society spokesman Brian Burns said: “Despite the exceedingly dry conditions the heather is starting to make a comeback, with new plants beginning to fill the spaces where the heather-beetle literally destroyed large areas of growth.”
He said all society events are currently on hold and urged people to check the group’s website for information.
