Pictures: Stone slabs stolen from Cowdray Causeway

The theft happened sometime overnight between September 3 and September 4.
More than a dozen large slabs were taken from the bridge, which leads up to the Cowdray Ruins.

Hide Ad“Cowdray can confirm that a number of stone slabs were removed by thieves either late on Thursday or in the early hours of Friday from the centre of the causeway,” said a spokesman for the Cowdray Estate.
“They gained access by cutting the locks at the Ruins end of the causeway and must have removed them using large machinery.”
The Midhurst and Petworth Neighbourhood Policing Team said the theft occurred between 6pm on September 3 and 8am on September 4.
Police said a large amount of flagstones were stolen.
