A MOTHER and son watched on in horror as their pet dachshund was savaged by another dog.

Penny Morris is appealing for witnesses to come forward who saw the horrendous scene in Tangmere Road, next to the One Stop shop, around 5pm on August 10.

Ollie, the five-year-old dachsund, has since had to be put down.

“It was horrible. I still don’t sleep properly at night,” said Mrs Morris, who still has flashbacks.

She was walking with her 14-year-old son Tom and their four dachshunds when they passed a van parked in the layby with the window half open.

Mrs Morris said a boxer-type dog waiting in the van spotted the family as they passed.

“The dog squeezed its way through, came across the road and grabbed hold of my smallest dog by his back and shook him,” she said.
