Appointments made at newly elected county council
Amanda Jupp, who has represented Billingshurst since 2009, was elected new chairman of the County Council.
She works part-time as an Area Manager for Independent Age, a national charity that helps older people on low incomes.

Hide AdPeter Catchpole (Con, Holbrook) was reappointed cabinet member for adult social care and health and Lionel Barnard (Con, Henfield) was appointed cabinet member for residents’ services - a portfolio that includes Fire and Rescue and Community Safety, libraries and archives and Trading Standards.
The roles of chairman for the various committees were also filled today and David Sheldon (LDem, Horsham Tanbridge and Broadbridge Heath) was appointed chairman for the Regulation, Audits and Accounts committee.
Louise Goldsmith (Con, Chichester West) has been confirmed as county council Leader for the next four years.
As well as the political direction of the council, her portfolio includes the economy and external partnerships.

Hide AdThe deputy leader is Christine Field (Con, Lindfield and High Weald) who will also be Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, which includes Public Health, Adult Skills and Learning and Domestic Abuse.
Other cabinet appointments are:
Michael Brown – Finance
Peter Evans – Children (Start of Life), which includes schools and Educational Attainment and Skills.
Peter Griffiths – Corporate Relations, a portfolio that includes County Local Committees and HR issues.
Pieter Montyn – Highways and Transport, together with planning, waste and minerals.
