New offices to free up space for patients at Eastbourne hospital
At a virtual meeting on Tuesday (July 21), Eastbourne Borough Council’s planning committee unanimously approved proposals to build a three-storey, modular office building on a tennis court which sits behind Eastbourne DGH.
Once built, the building will provide a separate working area for admin and support staff, making more space for clinicians in the main hospital complex.

“The proposal is to relocate existing staff and not to increase the number of staff.”
The building will be of a modular construction, meaning it will be made up of pre-built modules which are put together on site.
The application was approved subject to a legal agreement, which is intended to secure a local labour agreement.
