Pupil step into leading job for a day
Daisy, nine, took charge of the Raleigh Road school for the day, ably assisted by fellow pupil Finlay Pearson, ten.
Daisy said: “It’s been exciting and there’s been a lot to do. We carried out a health and safety inspection of the school grounds, held a fire drill and looked out for fire hazards like doors that don’t open.”

The pair also met the hopefuls for a teaching assistant job.
They took on their temporary roles by winning a draw by the Home School Association. They were mentored by the school’s permanent head, Linda Slinger, and deputy John Cumming.
“It’s given them an idea of the responsibilities we have every day,” said Mrs Slinger.
