Rotting tree falls in town centre

The tree came down in Liverpool Gardens around 3pm where workers were digging as part of the phase one regeneration scheme for the high street.
It is believed the tree was rotting near the base, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Hide AdThe tree snapped from the base and fell into the middle of the site, but none of the workers were injured.
An operation is currently underway to remove the tree.
Alexander and Liverpool Terrace have been closed temporarily, and are expected to re-open late tonight.
